My rear brake disk rubs the front chain sprocket of the rear chain when I turn to the right, or if my right side of my quad is higher than the left side. When I first bought the quad new in 1996 the dealer had silicone between the sprcket and the brake disk. I have tried putting silicone back in the but in no time it is gone. When it is in there it spaces the two apart and no rubbing until it gone. Can anyone tell me what there quads have to keep the sprocket and the brake disk apart. My quad is a 96 scrambler 400

There is supposed to be a retaining clip on the shaft between the brake disc and front drive sprocket. Kind of like a "C" clip, not like the snap ring that holds the rear spocket on the same shaft. If the retaining ring is not there, the sprocket can rub the brake disc.

My scrambler does have the snap ring but is still rubbing when I turn to the right. Does anyone have the silicone between their brake disk and the sprocket. I replaced the sprocket with a aftermarket sprocket could it be it was not machined exactly. Or maybe the brake disk spline are wearing down enough allowing the brake disk to touch the sprocket.
