Pipe and clutch kit are th efirst mods that should be done as well as a better air filter. Then comes porting and shaving the head, bigger carb, lightening the flywheel and so on. Shaving some weight can help a lot to. The final step is a reed conversion. It all depends on how much money you want to spend and what you want out of.

Yes, you can make a difference with changing the sprocets...BUT (there is always a but) you can gear towards top end or towards bottom end. You have to give up one to get the other. So, unless you have mods to compensate for the loss of bottom or top end the it may not be worth it. It you are on a budget, then the RCR Stage 1 kit is the best Bang for your buck. But it all out ***** to the wall performance is what you are after and have some money to burn, the the HPD race mod or reed conversion as well as the Aaen Stage 5 are the way to go. It all depends on what you are looking for

Just like bigbadscrambler sail it all depends on how much you want to spend. The 250 can be very quick. I have the AAEN stage 5 kit and can easily take a stock 400. I think the only thing better out there is the hpd reed conversion race mod. I am currently pushing about 42hp and the reed conversion is about 39 but much more responsive. I cant take one off the line but can catch up and stay with it. SOOO many things to do but start with a good pipe, clutch kit and just build from there. You would be surprised when people see this automatic,450lb 250 Polaris tearing up 400's and it climbs like crazy with a good set of tires. Talonhawk has the HPD reed conversion and says he can beat his brothers piped 400. The 250's can run with the right mods.
