Does Honda sell the most Quades?
#11
In Minnesota it seems that its a pretty good mix. Polaris is probably dominant but I see all brands being hauled around and I drive by all the brands, except bomb. atv's. I just dont see those. But polaris, honda, and Artic cats are strong with some yamies around.
I was camping all last week and the weather was very very bad. Very cold 40 degrees with lots of wind and rain. I did not fish as much as normal so instead, we drove my 2000 polaris xpedition 425 cc 5 speed allot. We put over 400 miles on this weekend. I made some nice loops. I now have about 800 plus miles on my xpedition. My polaris did not
break down but my 18 year old daughter riding alone, stranded herself twice. Once, she could not
get it into reverse. Some guys helped her back it up by hand and she drove home. It was hard for me also to get it into reverse. I added some synthetic oil I had left and the difficulity went away. It was wet and cold weather out. The second time; she thought the battery was dead. It shut its self off on her and she could not get it restarted. She did not understand that she had a backup pull start. I was not there but I think she could not get my 5 speed into neutral to restart it or maybe she bumped the emergency shutoff switch. Again some guys came around and rescued her buy monking around with my atv and finally using the pull start. She got back to the cabin and I found nothing wrong. Too much machine I guess for the younger ones. I had no trouble that could not be taken care of and my battery is ok as far as i am concerned. It is risky to drive a 20 mile loop through deep woods. If my polars had broken down. My daughter and I were alone on my polaris. It could have been at its worst. About a
10 mile hike out of the woods. I trusted my polaris and it worked all week ok for me.
I think we should take with a grain of salt the stories that a few people like to tell where they say when they go out in groups of atv's its the polaris's that break down all the time. All the atv's will break down sometimes, its the all the time part of the story that I would say is off the
mark.
I had some minor problems with my atv and at first they were irritating. Its like I had to get the cob webs out and it did not help that I had bad luck at dealers places back when my atv was under guarantee. Both taking them too long to fix something or in my case, never finding anything wrong to fix even though something was wrong. I always drove my atv out of the deep woods though. I have never been stranded out of the way. Maybe polaris needs to make sure the authorized polaris shops are trained properly and ready to handle new machines. I wonder if the other brands have that problem to?
