I'm not saying it doesn't happen, just have not seen one or actually heard of someone who had one from Polaris do it. Even on the forum. I have not been on long, figure if it was a problem there would be lots of posts.

I was just saying that cause my buds TB400's piston cracked about 3 years ago when we were out riding!
I know not to many polaris quads have the piston problem, but just wanted to let Buggy69 know that is possible and since he is moding it, It would be a good idea to replace it now and he dont have to worry about it...
No harm done i know what you mean...

I had an 01' trailblazer modded fairly well. Sold it over the summer, ran out of places and time to go riding.
The first upgrades I made were a hotseat speed kit, and soon after I wasted the stock piston going uphill. Came close to blowing a close through it. In the two rebulds following the first breakdown it managed to kill a wiseco picton as well. After that I determined polaris had built the engine with a bad case seal and under load it would lean out killing my pistons. I rebuilt it and sold it after wasting my money numerous times on rebulds thanks to polaris quality. This doesn't mean all polaris quads are junk but mine had a bad engine from the factory.

Wht is this rcr stage 1 kit and what does it consist of? I have a 99 I got for my son but my friends ride it more than him, I'm looking to mod it up some for a little better out of the hole power and for woods. I was thinking about putting on a bigger carb. It already has some sort of clutch kit and pipe on it, but still needs more power.

Hey fishslab I havent had a piston go bad either but I hang out at the local shop and when one breaks it can cause MAJOR trouble.Like the need for new cases.Best bet is when you put a kit in it take the time to replace the piston with a forged one even iff it doesnt need bored.Good cheap insurance.

I remember reading about cracked pistons here before. So I asked Rick R about when I was doing everything to my wifes 02 TB. Rick said that the cracked pistons he knows of are only on the 400 TB's.

I know this is an old post but I got a nice new digital camera for christmas and took a picture of my old trailblazer's first piston. This is the stock one that ran it self lean going up hill due to a bad case seal. Took about twenty minutes but it started again and drove it back to the truck with this piston.
