Default Going to buy a new quad

In that past I have owned Banshee's and Raptors. In the past year I got rid of all of them to pay off some debt. I am now in the market to purchase another quad. However I think my rideing style has changed and I don't need the blazing speed anymore. I am leaning towards a 500 Scrambler 4x4 due to the fact that I want get into more muc, thick trails and so on. Has anybody else made the transition from a high performace quad to a scrammy before? I just don't think I would utlize the High Performance quad in which the way it is intended anymore.

Opinions are appreciated.

thanks

The scrammy is a very good trail quad... its pertty fast i think 60-65mph and the 4wd works very well i have yet to get stuck in anything... I also have a banshee and riding that thing on trails is not very fun its only fun in a straight line.. The scram is a very good all around quad it will do just about anything...

If you have anymore questions let me know....

Thanks for the information Trailrider. It's good to hear from somebody that has owned and ridden the same quads as I have. I will be riding in mostly trails and beating my own paths through timbers. Can't really do that on something that wants to scream everywhere.

As far as the 4 wheel drive goes....Does it do pretty well in deep mud/snow and how about water?
Does it feel like a 4x4 or does it still hold some sporty characteristics?

I really appreciate the information. Probably after the first of the year I will be making a purchase so anything I can find out is great!

The scram is about the sportiest 4x4 you can get. It handles well for its size, weight, and the 4wd. Mud, snow, water, are not a problem. You will be surprised what it will go through, even in 2wd

Yeah, water, snow & mud is no prob at all for the scram.. In 2wd mode you can spin around just like a 2x4 and when you need the 4wd its their..... And when its in 4wd the front tires do not spin till the rears lose traction, when the 4wd kicks in its true 4wd not that 3 1/2 wheel drive other quads have...

<-----------Take a look at my pics, you can see what my scram looks like after some very muddy trails, Also Bigbad has some pics of his scram coming out of a mud pit.... Just a little proof of what the scram can do..

The scram sounds like the quad for you!!!

Blkjaxx, anytime man happy to help.. Got anymore questions me and the other scram owners will be happy to help!!

Thanks for all the info guys and the pics look great too. It looks as if I am going to be purchasing a Scrambler in the near future.
Are there many differences between the years. I'm leaning towards the 03/04 due to the color scheme. Has there been any major overhauls between the years?

I am also going to be picking up a project quad to work on. Does anybody know where I can find a decent used Suzuk LT 500.

The brakes, steering components, and a few other minor things got upgraded in 01. In 03 they introduced a new clutch cover with a drain plug. In 04 they got ride of the FOX rear shock and put different handlebars on. Plus it got black plastic and a fuel gauge. Other than that, they are pretty much the same. There might be a few things I left out. But the blue and the black plastic look real nice, but they like to show their battle scars more.

A LT-500 is kinda hard to find... The only difference between the 03/04s is the 04s dont have a fox shock in the back(03s do), But the 04s are black which is awesome!! BUT i heard that black plastic scuffs really easy also the 04s have a very nice seat, the seat is way more comfortable then the the seat on the 03s... Other than that they are the same..
