Engines Out, So What Should I Do?
#1
My engine is out. I was running a hotseat exhaust on my 98 trailblazer 250, I had a 170 main jet in ther like they said to and my engine is now shot. My piston was about 3/4 white and had a lil dimpol where the spark plug was where it over heated. so what type of piston would you put in ther? I'm only boring it out .020 and should i port and polish? I know this guy who i think can do it for pretty cheap. So what do u guy/gals think i should do if i'm goin to rebuild it? Thanks

That is very wierd that you have burnt up a piston already. The best piston would be a weisco. The next biggest performance gain would be to port and polish. This really works great with the pipe and makes it much more powerfull.

klick here I think this place will be the cheap. he has alot of good stuff...

Kind of like staring into the abyss. Wiseco hi comp piston, mil the head, port job(I would let someone who really know Polaris stuff do this), and lighten the flywheel. You will probably need to step up to a larger carb,35pwk maybe, might ask rick or bubba297. How's your credit?lol

Just a thought. Since we don't run at W.O.T. all the time you might have burnt it up in your midrange. Did you lower the clip (raise the needle) on the jet needle any?

Ya i'm going with a wiseco piston. How many sizes should i go up for a kandn clamp on air filter? I only can spend like 250, 300 on this i don't have alot of money. So boring it out is 20, new piston is like 70 to maybe 100, and porting is 100,(KNOW A GUY WHO CAN DO IT FOR CHEAP). what else should i do. thanks

do u need to bore because i would save it until something happeans because i was told it isnt worth it to bore u wont notice any power gains. you could race lighten the flywheel. and get a wiseco piston kit from rcr for $90 its everything u need when u change the piston. and this person that is going to port the cylinder for you, is he familiar with porting polaris cylinders?? becuase if not i would go to bubba hes really good and gets u the cylinder back fast.

dont go with what they say.. go with what you need.. they dont know anything about your machine.. what temperatures your running it in or anything.. when they give you a number its a good place to start.. then you need to adjust from there..
