weird sounds
#1
When i was riding this weekend, i hit some muddy/ice spots. I spun my tires pretty good to show off a little (becaues my cuz was with me.) I could hear the tires spinnin, and that was normal; but then all of the sudden a higher pitched sound started over the tires in mudd. It reminded me of a car doing a burn out. I thought it was just that i was getting traction, but thats not the case. It happens on mud, snow, and nething else slippery now. Thanks.

wait, i was reading a nother topic about burning belts and i think thats what it was. I remember a burning smell too. Is this really bad. At first i thought the smell was the engin overheatin, but it was only 10 min into the ride.

if you stop moving....yes it is bad lol. but seriously I would almsot bet it was your belt....if it is a 99 you MAY need to replace the belt...but you may not either...you probably got some snow or something into the clutch housing and got your belt wet.

The only way to check out your belt is to pull the PVT cover off check the belt for burnt spots, splits, cracks etc.. This is also a good time to clean your clutches, just blow them off with compressed air... If the belt looks bad i would go with a HPD belt they seem to be the best...
