Default 2004.5 sp700 question

Can the 2004.5 sp700 be upgraded to the EFI? I just bought a new one and didn't know they were comming out with an EFI model until I found this forum and read that. Wish I would have known 2 weeks ago.

you saved a bundle of $$.

i've heard the new 700EFI is conciderably more money. also, i've been told the $49 winch program doesn't apply. BIG mistake to try and skrew the customer like that imho!

did you use the winch program? i hope so. IF you bury a 700 you'd better have one! LOL

P.S. don't know if you can convert.

P.P.S. what color did u buy??

I bought the 04.5 700 mossy oak camo. I also took advantage of the winch program and added the brush guard and rear bumper.

From looking at the two these are the obvious differences as you can see from the outside..

Lower Headlight Pod Changed to Accomodate Diagnostic Connector
Intake at motor is metal design and straight.
Air Box Boot for Intake is rerouted.
Air Box had little differences to accomodate the new configuration.
New 700 has a throttle problem. Open throttle wide open front wheels want to come of the ground - go figure LOL

The electronics probably are astronomical as well. Dunno but for 8 to 900 dollars more over a regular 700 is what I am hearing they are going for...

The head design is different for the new EFI to accomodate the fuel injectors. Also, the CDI would probably have to be switched out as well as the throttle body in place of the carb. I am sure that Polaris will offer a kit to convert it to EFI. There would be no reason not to.

I will add that they have upped the alternator power to a whopping 500 watts @ 3000rpm. The cam has also been changed. Driveline intial clunk? GONE. That ratteling engine all Polaris owners are used to, GONE. Just one sweet ride. To upgrade would probably cost around $4000 + (guessing)

It would be cheaper to trade in your 2 week old 700 and buy the 700EFI. The loss that you take will still be a lot less then converting it over to EFI.
