I'm a little peeved!

Went to the dunes today. I had to switch back to my stock carb because I busted the throttle cable on the 42mm. I was able to race a stock Scrammy 500 4x4 and he out ran me. We swapped quads because I'm heavier and I out ran him while he was on mine even worse. This was up a sand hill and did not give us a top speed race. He has better tires than I did, but I don't think that was the only problem here. Tried wheelies on each and mine is easier to pop up. What gives? Anyone got any ideas?
The guy was DaSandBomb from the Bomb forum.

Thats cuz it is a 2000 Scram. The BEST EVER MADE!!!!! How about your jetting with the old 40mm carb?

Who knows? you might be right. lol. It feels like it's running strong. It was jetted before I switched them, but I guess it could be slightly lean due to the colder air now. It's got Aaens trail clutch kit and the roller action secondary. I thought for sure I would have him by a couple of lengths, but it was the other way around.

He runs paddles on it right? Are they better than your paddles?

Yeah his paddles are better, but I don't know if that was it. I thought we'd be even at least. It just makes me wonder if the pipe and clutch kit are doing anything for me.

i know with the polaris snowmobiles, the ones without the roller secondary will out run the ones with it maybe thats it?or maybe you need a new belt?

Style and number of paddles can make all the difference. If you want hill ripping power, you need to clutch as aggressively as possible. Are you running the kevlar belt?

I was thinking of going with the agressive clutch kit, but was waiting to cam it first. I just had the valves adjusted while I was swapping back to the stock carb. I do run an after market kevlar belt a Dayco MaxII that is only about four months old. You think I might have just got one of "the slow ones" right from the factory? Mine does feel more snappy and responsive than the stocker. DSB's kid, kc, even liked riding it better than the stocker. In a flat drag I might have caught him and pulled ahead, but I don't know that. Hopefully we'll get to try it again.

let me jump in here with a question, regarding your belt, i have heard that running a kevlar belt is rough on the primary and secondary clutches. i think i am due for a belt(nothing wrong, but just had the same one for two yrs now) and have been told to upgrade to the 700 polaris belt, which in your mind would be better????
