Oil filters are rip-off from the dealer
I just got back from the dealer and picked up a new filter. $10 and it wasn't even a Polaris filter. It's a "HIFLOFILTRO". Is this a rip-off or what? I took that filter down to the parts store and matched it up to a Fram for less that $4. I go along with supporting your local dealer, but this in my book is out of line. No more dealer filters for me. What do you guy think? Are they this high where you are?

Oil filters are rip-off from the dealer
You folks need some Irish in your blood. lol Don't you know how to hagle? Find the filter in a catalog or other parts store and tell him to beat their price or you shop somewhere else. I like my dealer too, but if his prices are out of line I tell him. I may not pay the lowest price in town, but I pay lower than his retail and that's fair enough for me. Oil filters are rip-off from the dealer
I posted a thread a while ago now about oil filter prices. You think you are being ripped off in the states, what about me here in Australia a genuine oil filter here which is made in japan for polaris is $32 Australian and our dollar is now worth 75 cents US. I can purchase a wix or a baldwin for less than $7. Needless to say I don't buy genuine anymore. I did with my old bike a sportsman 335 but have been using baldwin 1402's on the new sportsman 400. I now have nearly 100 hours on the new bike in 8 weeks. It is going well except for a cracking sound in the rear somewhere when turning and going over bumps, don't know what it is yet.
