Floodrunner - - Question?
#1
This past weekend I started at the override button override modification. I found the lt purple wire and grey/white. Instead of cutting the wires I just made a "jumper" to go between the two terminals.
The Problem . . . the reverse limiter still cuts in. I look for the ever elusive grey\orange wire but could not find it. On my 96 Xplorer a red and a brown wire come from the speedo . . . no grey\orange. I reviewed the wiring diagram in the the manual. . . nothing. Can you explain where the grey\orange originates or where it ends, anthing to help me find the sucker.
While I was at I also hooked up a horn. A little cheezy but its a use for the button.

Loyal,
I think the root of the problem is that the wiring on the Polaris models changed drastically in '99. Previous models had a mechanical speedometer and had a wiring board under the hood where all wiring connections were made. In '99 the wiring board disappeared and a full wiring harness was used. The speedometer for '99 and up is an electronic model.
The wiring to your speedometer is simply for the light in the speedometer. The wiring to the new speedos is for the light as well as speed sensor.
Bottom line, I believe the instructions you are reading on Floodrunner's site cover conversion of the newer models only. You need to find someone who has done this to the older models.

I honestly wish I could help you Loyal but I don’t have a schematic for your bike and haven’t done a bypass on one of that vintage. The reason I credited the two other guys for their override plans is they figured them out, not me. I just took their ideas and ran a little farther with them. Sorry you’re having trouble, but I can’t answer your question.
