Problem free '03 Predators????
#12
Glad to hear from some of us "origional" early first guys to buy and support the Preddy.
I love my early issue 03 TLD (born on date 11/20/02) and I picked it up December tenth for now going on a year of moderate hard riding.
Only problem on mine was a loose ball joint, which was fixed under warrenty. It rips hard, and is tuned to the hilt.
You know how much I love them, I'm picking up another TLD 03, which was born earlier the same week of mine. Going to trade him my Big Bore Banshee for it,
Twin Black Troy Lees in the shop will look sweet!

After a year of MX racing, mine has held together very well. Aside from a cracked frame and some balljoints I haven't had any other problems at all. I would like to add that Polaris took care of all my warrenty issues very fast and without any questions at all. They could have easily denied the replacement of my frame because it is ridden in competion, but they didn't. They stood behind their quad and got the problem resolved. This is one reason I'm sticking with my predator and not jumping on the YFZ & TRX450R bandwagon like alot of other racers are doing.
BTW my born-on date is 10-23-02, so I guess that makes me one of the OG's too.

my 03 pred had been beat banged raced jumped you name it i tried to do it and normally succeded, even rode down the river on it, had no troubles with any breakage but the heel guard got kicked once in a jump, made some aluminum ones, look better lighter and stronger. only thing that scared me was riding in the snow when my carb froze up and only ran WOT thawed it out and im doin good, gues the clamp on K&N isnt good for snow, oh well

I have had my Predator for almost a year and I think it is holding up great with no problems . I drag it at the local dragway @ twice a month. When I drag I pin the throttle as the lights come down dump the clutch on the last light and don'T LET OFF until the race is over. But I do fan the clutch when shifting. My best first outing was 9.75 in the 1/8 th and now I'm down to 9.07 with the machine still 100% stock. My point is I run it @ 8 times per night and the only thing the gives is the tire spinning. I also spend alot time on roads and levees with it ***** to the walls and had no problems. I have gone to the dunes a couple of times and I know I race it more often and harder than anyone in my group. I feel it is tough and a great buy.

I bought my bike on December 31, 2002 and I love it. I have beaten this bike weekly, with no problems. Since the first day, it has had a hard time shifting from 2nd to 3rd gears. I was told it would loosen up after some use, but it hasn't. When I read of the new changes to the 04, I started looking into having my problem fixed. One dealer told me that they called Polaris and I was SOL... I forgot about it until last week when I stopped at Andrew's Cycle in Salem, OH. I have a 4-year warranty, and they said they could fix it no problem. The tech told me they could put the improved tranny in the 03. I am dropping it off on Saturday and will keep you informed.....

The bolts holding the steering from tne bottom fell out the first 3 times I rode mine (every bolt need locktite when reassembling this thing), exhaust guard bolt broke the second time out, tranny is finicky, and broke the left rear fender off (thats why it isnt a good idea to be riding wheelies in the dark) the first time I went over on it, and bent my bars the second time( the next day hill climbing). I have had this thing since 9 months and abuse the hell out if it. If they have mods to the tranny to make it shift better I will be on that one for sure, It doesnt like to go into 3rd racing sometimes. I cant comlain too much as I can go through the gears with the front wheels in the air. I have always used PS4 and service mine every 30-40 hours. As for it not going into nutral try adjusting the clutch a little, sometimes you have to adjust it 2 times a day, its always worked for me and it almost always finds nutral without missing a gear. Mine is basically a dune machine. All in all I am very happy with the bike.
