I am having trouble getting a spark out of my 400 Scrambler. Suspecting a motor to chassis grounding connection problem, maybe... What I am wondering... There is a mounting plate that harnesses the motor to the bottom of the atv chassis, if this is not connected correctly, example.( JB Welded to frame instead of acually bolted to it, I do not know why, but thats how it came to me) will that cause that grounding point not to ground? Thus causing the engine not to fire. Even though the engine has more than that one ground point. Is my theory in the right direction?
I would appreciate any experienced/expert help.
Thanks

Try this disconnect the black wire off the cdi box and see if you have spark. If you do have spark the problem is the black wire is grounded by ether the switch in the left side of your bars, Or in your ignition switch. If you don't have spark it could be in the stater or a coil problem. I have never seen a cdi box go bad yet on a 400.
Hope this helps.
