Expedition 325 won't start
I have 97 Polaris Expedition 325, never had any problems with it. My son started it and let it idle for about 5 minutes, it died and won't start now. I checked the spark and it's good. I can't seem to get any compression with my compression tester. I can put my finger over the spark plug whole and feel some compression. I get an occasional backfire and it does hit a few time. I've tried ether, choke on, choke off, full throttle. I let it sit for several days and had the same problem.
I did find some oil in the air box, but not much. Reading other posts that seems common.
What should I do now? Any one else seen this? The oil and filter are change yearly, not used to much, just around the farm.
Thanks,
Ken

Which one is it, a 1997 or an Xpedition? Can't be both. Need to know because if you're talking about an Xplorer than you're talking 2 stroke, if you are talking xpedition it would have to be 4 stroke and 1999 or newer. Technically, the 325 Xpedition did not come out until 2000.

its tough to tell how serious it is when you say you don't get any compression on your compression tester but it will backfire occasionally. I'm not an expert by any stretch but go back and look at stupid stuff like a gummed up carb, fuel filter, wet spark plug, etc.
Earlier this year I had our XCR120 running for about a minute for the first time in 8 months before it stalled and wouldn't start again. In my case, the old gas had started to varnish in the carb and I couldn't keep it running. Then I flooded it by putting a teaspoon of gas in cylinder about 8 times just to try to get it to fire. So even though I'd take the plug out and it would show spark, it was very wet. 2 days later I put in a new plug, put a little new gas in cylinder, got it running, kept it running for about 15 minutes to clear out the old stuff. It's been fine ever since.
2 yrs ago I had the same thing happen except I couldn't get it running at all. Took it to the dealer and they took the carb off, cleaned it up and charged me $55. Hopefully your problem is this cheap! Good luck!

I just want you to know that your not the only one on the boat...two months ago my scrammy 500 ran out of gas...and never started afterwards...I've been taring that thing apart time after time...I have recharged my air filter..new spark plug...good compression..new oil...yanked the carb about 20 times...checked the float...cleaned all the jets...did everything and still wont do much...it starts and idles just fine but when I start to give it some throttle...It dies...figure its in the carb but I did everthing and the carb looks A ok.....I'm going to have to take it to someone and fork over some money to get it back on the trails..I don't know what to really tell you just know your not the only one out there with some bad luck...good luck though with your prob..
