How to make my 2004 Predator the BEST
#1
I just got back from my first trip at the dunes. I was content with my bike stock, just because I ride at many different locations and elevations (0-7000 ft.). I raced the hill a lot just messing around at the dunes and was holding my own against other Predators w/ pipes and gearing, and raptors piped (usually tied or even beat them on the hill). I was killing z400's and 400EX's both piped. I was VERY inpressed with my bike stock. A guy on another 04 Pred, smoked me and he had a DG pipe and header, K&N, and 162 jet. He would beat me time and time again by 4 bike lengths. I liked that set up and that is the route I am leaning towards. At that point that is what I wanted. Here is where it changes a little...
Some 250R's would line up to race. Mind you, I was off to the side on the hill racing other stock and piped bikes, nothing too trick. They would kill me every time. I had to have raced them 20 times over the weekend. The closest I ever cames was 3 bike lengths. What PISSED me off was some punk kids 18-20 would race me and turn and stare at me as they were going up the hill. They would just look back to see where I was compared to them, but just stare back. That drove me nuts and now I am pissed about it. I never want this to happen again!
So the question is.... I want the bike to be fast as hell, but also reliable for when I am at higher elevations. I am willing to buy 2 pipes, one for the dunes where noise does not matter and one that is more quiet for trails. What mods should I do?????? Money is always an issue, but I am willing to spend it. I just don't want to drop $3k on a $5500 bike.
Please help with suggestions.......
Thank you in advance.

Boatguy, from what I know, which is very limited compared to some of these guys like modquad and hozed. My suggestion is to first make sure it is broke in "good" and then when your satisfied with that, call Doug Nicholas. He is very intelligent on Predator mods, and the first thing he will want to do after a pipe is work on your carb, this will make a huge difference. He is very nice and really easy to work with. I would atleast give that a try first. I would suggest the HPD pipe for now. Anyways, that is all I know. Brad

I forgot to say, you can look on his page, www.nicholascycle.com for his number and also look under services or products and he gives a "general" idea of what the different stages he provides.

Hozed,
I am just talking from the little experience from what I have seen. The white bros does nothing and the DG made a big difference. Will the big Gun do better than the DG?? I am assuming yes already, but how much of a difference?
Thanks.

Like Bradracer stated, you can't go wrong w/ HPD and Nicholas cycle. DG never made anything but noise w/ 2 stroke Polaris pipes...that doesn't mean they won't make HP w/ the 4-strokers, but my money is on the shops that devote all their time to one brand...you get a lot more R&D for your money. The 600 kit from Hot Seat is a real mover, but be warned, it isn't quiet. The W/B Pure Polaris pipe works good for a modest price.

ive heard the 600 kit isnt worth the cash... id go with an hpd 558 bore and HC piston.... pic up their cams they are comin out with.. and throw their pipe on it while your at it...
