Just bought a '94 400L
#1
I just bought a '94 Polaris 400 and need to know what servicing I should look at doing. The machine has 2400 miles and just has been greased. Not really knowing much about quads I think it seems to run great - cold starts fine and idles fine. I do know that the crankcase oil needs to be serviced but I do not know were the drain is and what and how much and what oil to use. (no service manual with the sell). Look forward to hearing your comments.

29 is your drain plug and you would get the gear oil from a dealer there are some others you could use
but i cant think of them someone will chime in with that info...

You do not have any oil in the crankcase, you do however have oil in the counterbalancer, which has a dipstick right behind the starter pull rope.Make sure you check this as soon as possible. It holds about 70cc's of any 10w30 oil. There are 3 drainplugs under the engine, you have one for the starter housing, one for the counterbalancer, and then one for the crankcase. The tranny is separate and has a drain plug for it also. And welcome to the forums.
