Default stupid bendix question

i am getting ready to put my engine back together, and i was wondering if the starter bendix go in before you put the starter on (in front of the starter) or if it goes in the side of the case that the flywheel is? I have a service manual but it doesnt say which way. thanks again

put your starter on and then put the bendix on before you put your flywheel on.

Make sure you seal up the cover with silicone so no leaks!once a month pull the drain plug out of the starter and spray up in there with w-d 40. Thats if you'r in mosture alot.
