He'll probably want to drop down a tooth on the front sprocket. First gear on the 450R is crazy tall. He'll notice it as soon as he hits the trails etc. The crf450 stock sprocket is a 13 tooth and works perfect. I can't believe the difference it made.

I see you put the 13 tooth sprocket on the predator... was it a 14T before? Was there any particular reason for doing so. Just curious, I've never seen anything bad about the pred gearing.

Yeah it is... They are going to find lots of new honda owners dead, they will forget to turn the gas on and die kicking the crap out of that thing trying to start it

ya i think that a tooth down in the front would help.. it doesnt like to go slow at all...
i dropped a tooth just to get a lil more on bottom... when i get the motor back in i am throwing the 4 back on tho.

and yes trailrider.. i would trade my pred for one.
and if it wasnt for the rapin id get.... id do it.

dont get me wrong though.. i love my pred... but as many of you know.. ive had many problems...
and the power and feel of the honda is much better... and would be worth the extra 500$ when buying brand new... IMO

Actually, it's only $400. And I think this put's the Predator in a tough price bracket. There are three type of people that buy sport atv's. Those who want to have a easy but powerful atv for the trails, and once in awhile race. Money is usally a issue to for these too. Well the Pred comes in at $400 more then the Z and it's clones, but doesn't have reverse. The Z is plenty powerful, easy to ride, and is very comfy. So I see people not wanting to spend the extra $400 to get the Pred without reverse, and 35lbs heavier.

Then you have the other groupe, the racers. Money isn't usally the issue with these people, it's power and weight that is. So now with these 450 models having as much or more power then the Pred, and weighing 65lbs less, people will spend the $400+ more just because of that. Yes, the Pred tires are better, but the tires are more one dimensenable(sp). The stink in sand, snow, or mud, where as the others have tires that are good in all conditions. And most people put on tires that suit there riding style anyway's.

Then you have the duner's. These are people that want big bore atv's so they can make them as powerful as they can. The Pred comes in at about the same prices as the Raptor and DS650. These can be built to the max and be unreal in the sand. Where the Pred is more limited, but comes in at the same price.

I believe the Predator has to come in the price range of the Z, or the 450R. Not in the middle. Drop the tires, and come with a price of $5700 and they will be more competative with the other trail atv's. Or, lighten up the Pred, put the rezzie's and be around $6600 to compete with the R or YFZ. The Predator is just like a song. "I'm stuck in the middle".
