Default PVT Clutches Breaking

I don't mean the belt. Has anyone ever had one of the clutches break/fly apart. Did it come out of the cover? What all was broken (wieghts, entire clutch, etc)? Thanks for the info.

Nope, i don't have a Polaris or any other auto. I was just curious, I have several friends who have them though and nothing like this has happened.

I remember a fella that had his primary clutch literly blow apart on his SP500. I mean BLOW apart. It was in pieces. He sent me some pictures of the aftermath. It was all caught in the clutch cover. He said that it was determined to be a bad casting of the clutch. That was the only case that I know of

Default PVT Clutches Breaking

My buds 98 Sp 500 blew the clutch right through the cover, bike only had a few hundred hrs. on it.
Peice of it caught him good on his leg, another struck a guy on a sled a few feet away.Fragged in the hat.

We were riding in snow, about a ft. of powder mabee 20 degrees F. Went in side for a drink & warm up 1/2 hr later...Boom... sounded like a shotgun.Lucky no one was hurt.

This happened as he started the bike.

The bikes in the shop for over a month now he wants Polaris to pick up the cost of the parts....Don't think they'll back him up on this one. It is a 98.

Tried to get him to take pics so I could post but they(dealer) didn't think that was a good idea.
Went back to the spot & picked up a weight & several pieces of broken plastic & twisted aluminum, there were visible spider cracks in the aluminum.
still have these.

I posted when this happened at a few sites but nobody believed it, glad someone else brought it up.
