i just bought my used 1996 polaris sportsman it runs and drives but when you go past half throttle i cuts out unless i hold down the override. what should i do to fix the problem

 

the override switch is just meant to be used when going backwards it has nothing to do with going fowards and if you are talking about going backwards and u half to use it everone does.

 

im talking about going forwards not backwards

 

i had the same problem with my 400, we took it to the dealer since we just bought it and it was something about the limiter wire was messed up.

 

you even had the overide thing to
it only runs right when i hold down the overide

Just by pass the over ride it really has no point if you have common sense enough not to go 45mph in reverse.. sometimes it will get messed up and think the quad is in reverse when its really in forward that could be the switch on the side of the trans causing this problem... Also you will no longer have to hold the over ride button when you need 4wd in reverse...
