Default dialing the scrammy

OK,
Just got the clutch and pipe on the scrammy today and now I have a couple of ?????

1. Went to do a plug check after running the new pipe, HOW DO YOU GET TO THE PLUG????

2. It has a bit of a lag when you punch it, could this be a needle jet issue? Never did this before!

3. What happens when you put the driven clutch spring in different holes in the housing???

you need a plug wrench and if it lags you didn't rejet it is lean try a size bigger until you hit a rich stuble and drop a size and try to drop the jet needle and turn the idle screw out a quarter of a turn

yeah the plug requires a plug wrench or just a regular open ended wrench will do it, or socket. Changing the spring in the holes causes different engagement rates. Not sure which way it goes, but one way is faster and one is slower. Brad

The lag you are experiencing is probably the spring change. It takes some getting use to once you get use to the stock set-up. You can make some adjustments with the hole positions to see if you like one way better than the other. What the hole position affects is the engagement rpm and how much load the spring must overcome to engage the wheels to turn. You have to think of it like changing gears in a rear-end of a car, while one a change to a higher gear gives you more top-end and less bottom-end take off, a lower gear gives you more bottom and less top. Same thing with springs and hole position. The stiffer the spring the higher the top-end, less bottom-end. Softer spring.. more bottom-end, less top-end. Same with pre-load (hole position)more angle vs. less angle. If you are currently at 2-2 and you don't like it, try 1-1. All clutching is more or less what feels good to you and what yopu think fits your riding style the best. Good luck.

got a plug wrench but what is the easiest way to get to it, I couldn't even get my hand up there to pull the wire off.

The hesitation is in the carb for sure, but it only seems like it is right off idle, is this the main jet or needle??

i would be the idle screw it controls up to 1/8 opening then pilot jet the needle controls1/3 to 3/4 i think then the main jet the rest of the way so it is the idle screw or the pilot jet

If the lag is in the carb, it is definately not the main jet. The idle is controlled by the choke and the pilot. The 1/4 to half throttle is the pilot and needle clip position. From 1/2 to 3/4 is the needle jet and from 3/4 full main jet. If you only made a pipe change, especially on a 4 stroke, I doubt there would have to be any jet changes. Change the spring back and see if it goes away, I bet it does.

I did the can and clutch seperately. It was doing it before I put in the clutch.

Where on the carb is the ilde screw?? Not the idle speed adjustment is it? I am pretty sure I don't want to raise the idle speed up

Are you set up with a high altitude carb setting? Or do you have the stock 155 main jet? The guys with the White Bros usually got to a 160 main jet. Try turning the pilot jet screw 2 turns out from lightly seated and see what that does for you. The pilot screw (if it hasnt already been adjusted) is under a brass plug that needs to be drilled out #32 I believe. The front plastic and gas tank will have to come off to get to the carb. That is also the easiest was to get the the spark plug. Trust me on that one

thanks guys
I will take the front apart tomorow and see about the jet size. My dealer said they already put the hi altitude kit in it before I bought it so I don't know where it will be
