Default is bored 25 over a good thing

i just bought this 1995 scrambler 400 4x4 the man who sold it to me gave me the receipts for a whole top and bottom rebuild it was also bored 25 over i am new to this game and i want to know if that means i have more power than stock or what i would guess so cuz of the bigger piston but i need some imfo

Default is bored 25 over a good thing

its good in a way but bad in a way. it could have meant there was something wrong with the cylinder wall and needed to be bored to fix it.

yes its bigger... but hardly any... you wont notice any more power over a stock bore...

ya but thats normal for a 2-stroke... nothing to be worried about.

i was told it was cuz some casing our something like that broke off and went into the engine and when they tore into it they said it needed work

ya.. it probably just scratched the cylinder wall and had to be bored to smooth it out... not big deal either way... that happens on 2 strokes.

they told me that they were gonna put all new piston and rings because the old ones were shot so i dont know about yours

Actually your 25 over is 0.25mm or 0.010" (1st over). If the shop knows what they are doing, the most likely reasons for boring the cylinder is because of scratches or the cylinder is "egged out" (meaning it is no longer round inside). Either of these conditions will prevent you from having full compression, and make it hard for the new rings to "seat". Some places bore just because they make more money off the bore, and the profit is more off of selling you a piston kit rather than just rings.
