Default exhaust causing bogging? PLEASE HELP

i have noticed that my 95 scrambler 400 bogs down at anything past full throttle i just read an article about if your silencer packing is blown out it will cause high end bogging i notice my quad is REALLY loud do you think that is the problem or should i still look into the air filter and carb

if i take my silencer off will it hurt my quad to ride down the road once to see if that fixes it

Is it the factory silencer? If so, it is almost impossible to re-pack. If it is aftermarket and hasn't been re-packed in a while, it will hurt performance, but I don't think It will be so much that It would bog down. If the motor is factory or hasn't been rebuilt in a few years, I would say that compression is your problem. If you take the silencer off and run it, you risk running too lean and blowing the motor, so no I wouldn't do it, but it is your call.

Default exhaust causing bogging? PLEASE HELP

the engine has has a total rebuild so i dont know what to do i think it might be the carb setting because when i get about half throttle if i push it anymore it slows down but if i let out it speeds up again

would it hurt to run it really quick down the road without the air filter or how do i test that

It sounds like you are getting too much gas in there causing it to bog. Here is a simple test, take the bike for a ride and when It starts to bog flip the choke half on and see if it improves, if it does you are too lean, if it falls flat on it's face, you are too rich. If it is too rich or lean, make an adjustment with the needle clip position, only move it up or down one notch at a time. Up is richer, down is leaner.

On top of the carb were your throttle cable goes in.
That entire housing will screw off and you will see you needle. The E clip is on you needle and has 5 positions I belive. Very Easy.

If you Lower the clip on the needle, It will raise your needle making it richer at 1/4 to 3/4 throttle

If you raise the clip on the needle, It will lower your needle and make is leaner at 1/4 to 3/4 throttle.

The needle will normally not affect wide open throttle, That is all Main.
