Default Scrambler Pipes

I have a 02 400 Scrambler 4X4, this is my first four wheeler, its basically stock. I put in a uni filter and opened up the air box to get more flow, it came with a aftermarket silencer (not sure on the brand) and the stock pipe is ceramic coated. I was looking through other posts on the forums and noticed a lot of the people here recomend the hpd pipes. What all would I have to change clutching wise to add one of these pipes to my bike? Where is a good place to get one, and are there different models? I pretty much ride around in the mountains, 4500+ elevations, snow, mud, and anything else. Thanks for the help.

Check out Rittercycle They carry HPD as well as their own, call and ask the same questions, they are very helpful

MTpolaris
You should do a search within the forums. This is asked A LOT
HPD is the favorite of most and Rick Ritter of RCR is SUPER to deal with.
Tell Rick what you are looking for and where you ride and he will set you up with everything you need and nothing you don't.

I have a FMF Gnarly Pipe and I love it. I shopped around and look at all the pipes, and went with the FMF. Looks good and sounds GREAT. And yes Rick knows what he is talking about.

This is a topic that is brought up way too often, and I certainly do not want to start a Flame here.
Do yourself a favor and steer clear of FMF and DG performance items if you want the best out of your POLARIS 2 stroke machines.
There are only a select few that really know Polaris and put tons of R&D to make sure there products are top notch.

Go with anyone of these manufactures and you will not be dissappointed. Most of the other members will agree,(some willl certainly have a favorite) but 95% will agree with my first statement about FMF and DG.

You can say want you want about FMF. If you have never had one don't dogg it. I don't dogg any other pipes. I'm not saying FMF is the best, but I like it. And my buddies have everything else, and they wished they had what I got. It's got the sound, looks, and POWER to back it.

The main problem with FMF and DG is that they dont offer clutch kits to match the new powerband of their pipes. This is especially vital on 2 strokes due to the big gain in power that you get from pipes. You are not going to get all the power that the pipe unless you can have the clutch keep it in that powerband

I do agree, about the clutch. I wish FMF did make a clutch. I talked to RCR yesterday and he said he can set me up with the clutch springs that I need. I'm also going with V-Force reeds and the spacer, new piston, head, and porting. He said by the time I'm done a will be pushing 56 hp.

The main Polaris suppliers already know what clutching that fits there pipe power band
With FMF and DG you are in around about way guessing. You are never getting the full potential of you bike, at least without trying a bunch of different combinations$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

FMF and DG are using product that are rarely updated, my understanding is that their pipes were designed to be used back on the Non-Concentric drive machines. I have herd FMF actually tried to copy the first edition HPD pipe.
FACT IS if you put a pipe on with out adjusting clutching, your gains are very small, performance could actually be worse.
But I am sure it will LOOK NICE AND SOUND COOL.

Do a search within this Polaris forums and you will see the opinions on FMF and DG pipes on Polaris machines, there are at least 100 results, the same thing is always stated. As I said before I am not trying to start a FLAME, just trying to steer someone from making a mistake they may regret later. LEARN FROM OTHERS MISTAKES AND MAYBE HISTORY WILL NOT REPEAT.
