I would certainly stay with synthetic oil, since that is what Polaris designed your SP to operate with.
I use Mobil One synthetic and Wix Oil filters (part# 51358). I am currently using a Fram Oil Filter (part# PH6017A) because my local parts store was stocked out of the Wix. Good Luck Polcat

If this is your first oil change. then Your atv must still be under warranty. Most of us dont mess around with our atv's in any way untill the warranty is expired. Otherwise polaris can invalidate our warranty. Check your warranty. So im saying. use polaris oil and filter. You should have received a coupon for a discount from pro-polaris as a new atv owner. I have also read on this forum that some polaris dealers were doing this for free, the first time. Have you talked to your dealer about bringing it in for its first warranty oil change during the break in period. The oil should be totally drained and replaced. rangerchet

dont give them any reason to void a warranty..use polaris brand fluids and filters..i dont use their grease and they dont have their own gear oil for the differentials..everything else is polaris..definitley your safest bet

I would have the dealer do it also, just so they can't say something was not done right.

In order for any manufacturer to void your warranty for using another brand of oil/filters etc, they must provide them for free. It is the law here in Canada, and in the US. I'm not paying $12 bucks for a filter with a Polaris part # on it. Odd are the filters are derived from fram or some other major manufacturer. Buy the fram filter and use a 0W40 syn oil

Agreed,(Brack) Most oil and filter manufacturers clearly state, on the label, that their product will not void the warranty. later polcat
