no title?
#1
I looked at a 4-wheeler that the guy had no title on , said the guy he got it from bought it from a dealer with no title as well.. The guy bought it about a month ago for the wife and she didn't like it , so he's selling it. The last guy had it insured so wouldn't it come up stolen if it was then ? Has anybody did dealings like this before ??

I bought an atv w/ no title. In order to get a title I had to get a notorized bill of sale. Then the manufacture sent me a duplicate MSO.W/ the MSO I was able to get a title. I do not know how a sale b/t two individuals work.
If you wanna see if it is hot get a VIN a stop by your Sheriffs office.

Hey Powerstrokin,
It's not bad to be a little leary with the guy not having the title but they do get lost. If you do want to purchase this quad, contact your local sheriff department. They will send a conservation officer out to do a VIN check. What this basically is is they will run the vehicle's identification number through the NCIC database to make sure it has not been reported stolen. Then your good to go. Just get a reciept or "bill of sale" from the guy your buying it from so you can apply for a new title.

I have no title for my 03 predator..... I bought it new from the dealer here in Indiana. I asked him about it and he said they dont offer it but you can get one if you want to go through the process. He said that they will only make one if the bank your financing it through requires it. Just get the vin.#'s and have them run...that will tell ya if it is stolen. No title for an ATV is very common.

I sold my King Quad and could not find the Certificate Of Origination( I think this is what it is called) but the guy did not care, when I did find it later he said he was not worried about it and I still have it. I never registered it with the state so I never got an actual title for it. I saw no need to register it as you only realy need to do it with snowmachines so you can run them in the parks and quads are not allowed in the parks in the summer anyways.
I would not worry about it unless the price is to good to be true, then the B.S. alarm should be ringing loudly.AlaskaBoy.
