Default Old gas

I have gas that is from November and has been sitting in the garage since then. It has been in the cold and everything and I put it in my trailblazer. Well it was sputtering and everything and i thought it was the jetting so i messed around with the jetting and everything. Now i think its the gas has anyone experienced this problem before?

Old gas will do that. You start losing octane after a few weeks. Your best bet is to drain it and put fresh gas in. How warm is it when you were riding. Cuz gas from Nov. is a winter grade gas, which doesnt like warmer weather. Also, if you are going to be storing gas for awhile like that, put some Stabil in there. That will keep the gas fresh for a lot longer

Gas does get old pretty quick. It could even have drawn some moisture into the tank. They have some addatives to help get water out of fuel in the tank. You can top it off with some premium or some octane booster to use up what you have. Do like BBS said and get some Stabil. Add this to your fuel when your not going to be riding for a couple of weeks or more and keep the tank full to keep moisture from condensing in the tank. Same goes with your gas cans.

Like everyone was saying, drain it and put in fresh gas. You can use the old stuff for a fire in the back yard. I'll bring the Coors Light!

I have heard a gallon of gas loses one octane point per 30 days so if you had a 87 in November your looking at around 83 octane now. That is definately enough of a differnce to cause problems. Jay
