I just got it back together Wensday.....I was taking it easy for the break in time. Then I got up this morning, and thought I would take it down the road.....I was not running it hard at all (still breaking it in) then it just died, so I pulled over and went to start it and NOTHING.....I jerk it all apart and there it was a hole in the top of the piston. Man what luck I have. Called Rick and told him to send me another piston, maybe have it back together Wensday again. I think I was running to lean. I'm going to jet the HELL out of it this time. We always ride on sundays, I think I will stay in bed all day.

Yes you were lean. What main are you running. Thats why it is critical to do plug checks in all 3 positions. I usually check my plug after every ride to. Do you think it burnt up on top end or bottom?

I do a plug test all the time. Yesterday I pulled the plug and it was grey with some type of carbon on it. So I put a new plug in it...Ran it yesterday and checked it last night, look good...Brown not white or black. When I frist put my pipe on I had it running to rich...plug was big time black, then I droped a smaller jet in it. (next size down) which was a 260. Ran great, plug look good. So when I got it all back from Rick and put a 300 in it, it seemed like it was getting to much fuel. I told him what it was doing, so he told me to go smaller, which was a 290. I think when I had the 300 in it would would had been fine, when I thought it was geeting to much it was not getting enuff. I don't put any blame on Rick. I will take all the blame.

 

I did get a new flame kit for it...What do you guys think?
