Default tire size Scrambler - Berts Dirt Works

I had just spoke to a guy from Berts Dirt/Water works about tires. He told me if I was to put oversize tires on my Scrambler, I WOULD NOT have to keep the front tires one size bigger than the rears. I'm sure he knows what he is talking about. Anyone else have any input on this subject?

If you have a four-wheel drive system, the roller pins which activate the "on-demand" system are pretty sensitive - they are based on comparing the speed of the rear axle and front drive-shafts, so the exact same ratios need to be in place for the AWD system to function properly...

When my scrammy was still 4x4 i ran 22x11x10 sand paddles all the way around for three years in the dunes with absolutely no problems.

The 24s are on my 98 4by4. Ive been running them for approx 5 years, and I have had no hub or transmission trouble. I only use the 4wd when I need it, but I have used it numerous times for an advantage in a drag race, and on snow coverd roads. If the 4wd system were "direct" like a Wolverene, then I think you would have trouble with it "binding up". Just remember the purpose of the size difference is to get the 20% slippage before the 4x4 engages. On all 4x4 models you should maintain this one inch difference for multiple reasons. First is any warranty you might have. Second is steering effort. Remember polaris is true 4x4. Without this slippage your steering effort is tremendous and so is the strain on the front end components. Example, put you grizzley in diff lock and drive a trial you just did in open diff. 4x4 and you'll see the difference. In theory you can and I have seen the same size tires on a 4x4 polaris but the gain doesn't outway the negative IMO.

How does that handle in the sand? I have thought of doing this, but was unsure how it would handle and if it would even have advantage over the stock tires in the sand. What tires are they exactly, because I had a hard time finding fronts?

Has anyone used other combos of paddles?

It handles real good in the sand.I took my front rims and reversed them, plugged the original valve stem hole with a valve stem pulled inside out and then drilled another one on the outside. And mounted the v paddles on the original front rims.It will give you a hole shot out of this world.
