Water proofing and AWD tips for the 2000 Sp500???
#1
I was wondering if any 2000 Sp500 owners out there have any tips for water proofing an Sp(as in carb., belt drive, etc.). And also what about the AWD switch????? Has anyone found out how to get AWD all the time whenever you flip the switch????? I have a 2000 Sportsman 500 6x6 and everything on the bike is almost the same as a Sp.
If anyone could help me that would be great and I would like to thank the people that reply!

Yes my AWD is on as soon as i flip the switch. I dont know how but i am not going to get it fixed. When you are going though deep water put the tranny in low range and give gas and then let off just a bit, keep doing this constantly. This somehow puts a lot of air coming out of the breather. I have never got my belt to slip, except after washing really well. I hope this helps you out a lot. Polaris: The ONLY Way Out

Mudmachine is one of a few guys here who can comment on the waterproofing issues. Guys like mudmachine have perfected the snorkelling of the vital air intakes. This is evident from the pictures he provides. His machine is pretty much a working submarine.
As for forcing the AWD on when the switch is flipped, it is not possible. Flipping the switch simply ALLOWS the hubs to lock. The locking of the hubs is a mechanical process that happens when the speed of the rear wheels exceeds the speed of the fronts. There is no way to force the mechanical hubs to lock. Do a search. There was a long discussion on this very topic recently.

Trust me man I know MUDMACHINE is than man on that stuff but for snorkeling I will have to follow GREGSIMS steps just because I dont want any holes in the plastic and he has the air box snorkeled. I will eventually go down and ride with MUDMACHINE considering that we so close to each other on the map(about 2 hours away) and plus he said I would be the man to carry the cooler around!!!I am thinking of snorkeling my 6x6 when the waranty goes off though! Thanks guys.
