I noticed when test riding the new 700 EFI that the clutch is smoother with engagement and that it does not have the normal 'clunk / ebs' sound that my '04 SP 700 has. Does anyone know what was changed and if I can upgrade to the EFI clutch components on my 700?

It has a new team roller clutch, no more clunk and very smooth, hope they put it on all of them soon. Sure it costs more money though.

Will the team clutch bolt right on to the '04?
Any idea how much they cost?

They should bolt right on. HPD carries them (they do their own mods on them for more convience). The EBS secondary goes for $349

I have not driven a carb 700, but I think you will find that the EFI will clunk after you ride it a while. I have a new EFI. After several miles of riding I noticed the clunking noise you are talking about. It may not be as loud as the carb 700 is, but I know mine does it.

Yes just bought my 700 EFI a couple of weeks ago (love it) and it has the clunk as well, although the mechanic at the dealership notified me of this when I bought it and said it was normal because of the large gear ratio in the tranny.

Too bad it clunks still, but the performance of the clutch is still probably worth having. Thanks for your feedback.
