I'm just curious..has anyone out there successfully jumped a big bore utility like the Magnum 500 or SP 500? I don't mean little 6 inch jumps either. I'm talkin jumps of a foot or more.

While riding at the Wayne National Forest a few weeks ago, there are some great jumps on the New Straitsville loop. One jump in particular I took on my 98 Magnum 4x4 and got about 1 to 1 1/2 feet of air. I do not think I will do it very often though. It felt like jumping a giant truck. One thing about it though, it does not nosedive like my wife's trail boss does. I have seen pics in here of guys getting 2 to 3 feet air on jumps on big atvs. I would not recommend this though. This is a lot of weight coming down hard. Something will eventually break

I have jumped my dads magnum 500 a few times and got about 2 1/2-3 feet of air and up to 6 feet with my '94 polaris 300 2x4 utility quad. Its not bad if you have a good landing, the main thing is land on a down ward slope with the rear wheels first. Also befor you jump let off the gas enough to where you know you will be accelerating when you leave the jump, in other words you dont want to coast over the jump you want to be putting power to the ground so you get some front end lift.

well, even tho my 85 trail boss might not count, iv'e gotten prolly 4ft of air or more with it, tho i broke both shocks off the frame a few times, thats cuase they were junk, and i was riding on the springs instead. with my new shocks, its great (i love the low center of gravity, no other polaris compares)

even though its not a polaris, i jump my grizzly nearly every day, or at least everytime i ride near home. i consistently get 4 feet of air and have this on film. i'm jumping sand hills and landing on sand, so the impact of landing doesn't worry me, at least i haven't broken anything yet although if i don't land right my shocks can and will bottom out.

I have a sp500 and i have got 4.5 ft of air on it. It lands smother than my friends 400ex, the 400ex rebounds to much.

I have a sp500 and i have got 4.5 ft of air on it. It lands smother than my friends 400ex, the 400ex rebounds to much. And no i didnt even bottom out. Those front struts can take a pounding and still land soft. The 2000 Sportsman 500 like my is very sporty, although the Magaum it easier to handle at speeds. And will beat it by a couple of Fourwheeler lenghts. The sportsman jumps a lot better than it. The Sportsman has the best jump balance i have seen on any quad. I dont even have to pulled up and wrestle with a diving front end, like the 400ex. Well peace out
