Jetting the carb
#1
I put my HPD Pipe on and didnt do anything to the carb and it seems like it runs fine, would it run even better if I re-jeted the carb? Just wondering cause I heard that it would run better that way. Even though it seems like it runs good now. Any help would be appreciated. thnx

it will run fine unjetted, with the exception of the meltdown that will occur. If your jetted 230 stock
go up to 250 or 260, especially if you have a high flow air filter, If you were to check your spark plug i bet it will be white and dry looking, the only way to jet is to get a handful of new plugs, and jet until the plug is nice and tan or brown after winding out a short time. If the top end seems to sputter or really not come on at all, then you jetted too high, and the plug will come out oily brown and black. just go down a size say 270main jet is rich, go back to 260, and adjust the airscrew so there is not a lean condition after a short topend run. If it is grey or white take away some air, if it is tan or light brown with slight very little oilyness then you are dead on. Remember Lean machines will run like Heck but the piston is going to melt to your cylinder. not to mention but your fan will have to run superduty, and your leg will probably end up in the melted pile of plastic around your pipe.
Ps: Oops the above are jet sizes for a 400, and you dont have a Fan so just use that as an example, take your cab off open the bottom find the jet size and go buy 3 next larger sizes. trying them. Also taking the airbox on and off the carb is a pain.
