Scrambler in the Mud
#1
I am considering (as far as my wife knows)getting a Scrambler. Still up in the air as to if it will be a 400 or a 500. I was going to get a Sportsman 500, but my buddy with more money than me, beat me to it. Now I have to get something that I can outdo him on. I don't plan on towing or carrying alot of weight on the racks (optional, of course).
I need to be able to climb, mud, and trail as well as the Sp500, but just faster. Help !
Which one would be better for what I want to do ?
400 or 500.
Thanks
Dave

The Scrambler is a great mudder and hill climber. You will have the speed and handling and just plain more fun on the Scrambler but the 22" tires wont go where 25"s will.
Always been a 4 stroke fan so I cant give an opinion on the 2 stroke but I do agree with Tim on the low range if you really need to go everywhere the Sportsman does.
Good Luck!

I have a 500 scrambler 4x4. It runs really good and is great for hill climbs and trails. I want to make it faster but I am limited due to it being a 4 stroke. The 400's are easier and cheaper to modify. A friend of mine had a 400 and it screamed and yet was still great for trails. It all depends what you want.
