I have a '99 Sportsman 500 that I am wanting to trade for something a whole lot less weight. Unlike most of you, I have no desire to do more than 50mph. Would like to lean toward the utility end of things I think. Any suggestions?
Might even consider trading for a Mule or Ranger.

If you stay utility and something above 450cc then 500lbs is probably as low as you're gonna get....even my Scrammy is a lard-butt at 571lbs.

Sorry to say but if you want something a whole lot less weight then your SP,you will probably be better off looking at a used honda, yamaha etc....

You could always get a scrambler

Most of what I do is in the mountains or on the ranch. I dont use it for ranch work though. I am open to another brand. I do kinda like the belt drive of the Polaris but anything is possible. I suppose the 'sport' models are lighter than the Sportsman? I had a Sportsman 400/2 stroke that was great. The reason I got rid of it was chain drive + sage brush issue. It was heavy though as well.
