My 2004 scrambler 500 has about 18 hrs on it now and I noticed a new sound. It sounds like a dewalt 18volt drill. It makes this sound when im driving. Is this normal? Is it just the parts loosening up?

 

Where is the sound coming from?

It may be your chain tensioner...


Polaris quads in general are known for making some odd sounds...

 

Its not the chain tensioner I noticed it before i put it on. Just put it on yesterday.

It used to be only the engine would make sound(like all engines do) but I am starting to hear different things, It sounds like its coming from my trans.

 

Take the belt cover off and see where it is comming from.Sounds like your belt just wearing in.you could just put a louder pipe on it [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]

 

when you have it revved up high moving along, the trans will make a whining, whistling sound, its normal. This could be what your hearing. It does sound kind of like a drill i suppose[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif[/img]

do a oil change

 

you have to do the firt oil change in the first 10 hours

 

Actualy the manual says after 20 hrs so I haven't changed it but after today I should be around 21 hrs and plan on changing it tomarrow [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]
