I have no doubt that the Predator is way faster than any of the 400's. I just wanted to make sure that it works well in
the woods. I do ride in open areas with plenty room to open it up, but still need it to be managable when things get tighter.

Had a bad experience going from my kdx200 to a kx500 (lucky to come out of the woods alive)

 

Remember one thing... When the 03 came out, the polaris sponsored GNCC rider took the pred out of the crate and one the very first race with it. It handles well in tights, and accelerates in the opens, and the 400's ride nice, but to me the pred is the way to go.

 

I've been doing trail riding on my Predator and it's great. You might like a 13/38 sprocket setup a bit better than stock, but other than that it's terrific. Just soften up the suspension a bit if you don't plan to ride super-aggressively... but then if you don't, why do you want a sport quad... [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

 

I agree with Shaman. I think the Predator is a GREAT trail machine. Soften up the suspension alittle(yes those adjusters are there for a reason. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img] ) and if you ride real tight stuff get a 13t front sprocket or 39t rear, and you'll be ready to rock. I find the seat plenty comfy, and the predator doesn't tire me out at all. The only real down fall I see in comparison to the Z/Kfx is the lack of reverse. They're both great machines though, and I think you'll be happy with either one, but for the price difference I'd go with the Pred......thats what I did. I would go with the Predator hands down. I saw an ad here in MN for $4699 for the Pred's. You can't touch a Z/KFX for that after you pay $600 to have the frame gusseted.

 

Trust these guys...Go for the Predator...Nice handling, fast and not bad lookin(all this from a Raptor guy)

Congrats, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Did you get the '04 or an '03? The reason I ask is the '04 had some changes to the tranny and swing arm. Either way, you made the right choice.

 

I got the 04. I had read about the upgrades and figured the 04 might be a little better.

 

that's the one i would have picked.
