Chain Care
#11
The Maxxim chain wax is a wax, so it wont fly off. It might look dry, but it has done it's job. I wash my bike after each ride. Right before I ride again, I ride around the house for 5 minutes to warm up the chain, then apply the lube, when the chain is hot, it sucks the lube into all the little crevices like soldering flux.

I use some Yamahammer Multi-purpose marine grease that I got at my local Polaris/Yamaha dealership. I just pop the 14oz tube into my grease gun and pump it out onto the chain. It seems to work very well and doesn't come off on mud or dirt trails, unless you get down into a really bad mud hole and rub it around in the mud. Works well in water, too. Best thing I've used yet.

i used wax for a while but it didn't stay on long in the mud, I have been useing P-51 it is teflon based(it came free with my sidewinder)It seems to work well, it coats the chain and dries to a slipperly film, I have used it at the dunes and the sand does not stick to it unlike wax(I know they say sand don't stick to wax either, but I wish someone would tell the sand that) it don't lasts in the mud any better than wax. As for using fuel oil(kerosine) to clean your chain, It just don't sound right. I heard mineral spirts works good.
