Pictures of '01 Model
#1
Here are some pictures of the '01 Xplorer 400, and it's new brakes, not just on Xplorer though. This is the first real '01 model I have seen, the Scrambler 2x4 and Sportsman DUSE don't count in my eyes, since they have no '01 updates.
The new brakes are really nice.....
Also a pic of the '00 Silver Sportsman since some of you hadn't seen it.

It looks to me like they changed the overall shape
and design of the explorer 400 now to match the shape and design of some of their other atv's. Like my xpedition, the mag. 500, and the sp500. I can see the xplorer is still chain drive and I would imagine, 2 cycle and all that make the xplorer an xplorer, but the main design now looks like the rest of our utility atv's. rangerchet

We just recieved "01" 325 Mag. 4x4 in Mossy oak, new brake components, gas cap, push pull choke ****, lower steering bearing. Not big changes but improvments none the less. Sorry, I'm one of the guys that hates the head light pod. Course I have CB radio and GPS mounted where the light would be and at times have lots of gear on front rack making the light useless.

No special ties with Polaris. I think all the dealers got the sheet that had all of the updates on them.
Power wise felt great, about the same as the '99 model, I have never ridden a Xplorer older than a '99 or ridden a '00. The new brakes are strong, but they still need "break in." The pads and disc don't work well when brand new, but it's still stronger than the other models.
I saw the guy who bought that Xplorer in the picture when he picked it up. He nailed it in high range and pulled a wheelie straight up. I never ride other peoples machines hard, so I didn't try it when I test rode it.
I like the non-headlight pod better, but I wish it still had the speedo and all. Polaris dropped the price $300 too, I think.

Saw a 2001 Xplorer today also. I like the new master cylinder - lower in profile, can lock the parking break w/ left hand while holding the brake. The brake lever had a nice feel, the new lines look great - dealer said they should fit previous models. He told me to wait until I roll mine and have to replace the master cylinder, then switch levers & cylinder over.
Also, for those w/ chain drive, which I don't have, he said they moved the location of the gear in relation to the swingarm so they are on the same axis and chain doesn't tighten as much w/ swingarm movement.
Also, the rear caliper & disk look larger.
Just my 2 cents worth.
