Default Front hubs question

I am doing a complete brake job on my 99 Polaris 500 Sportsman and noticed that there seems to be gear oil in there instead of grease. If it is gear oil, what type and how much should I put in it. Thanks alot!!

Use synthetic ATF in the front hubs.

Default Front hubs question

I just talked to the dealer...he said to use hub fluid. Is that similar to ATF?

Also, should I grease the bearings AND use the fluid??

Thanks...

I use sythetic ATF in the hubs of my 99 SP seems to have less wheel drag than hub fluid and since the ATF is cheap fill it, run it and drain it a couple of times to clean it. I don't think you have to grease the the bearings as they should be immersed in hub fluid when it is filled properly.

Type F tranny fluid seems to work well also if you can't find any synthetic.

Roger that. You will be surprised how many "problems" can occur just from dirty hub fluid. I change mine a couple times a year. That stuff gets nasty and having that quart of Mobil 1 handy is nice. The tranny "hub" fluid provides the lubrication for the bearings. I find that the synthetic ATF works better for me than the Type F. Just dont mix the two
