Who has Xplorers
#1
Hey,
I notice quite a few posts on Xplorers these days. Some from people who have have just switched to Xplorers and others (like myself) have had nothing but . . .
Just wondering who out there has one and what mods have you made.
Mine is a Vintage '96 with:
- custom rear bumper
- back up light
- boysen reids & K&N filter
- custom rear storage box
- reverse and AWD override
- horn
- removable custom camping racks
- synthetic oil & grease
Hope to hear from all Xplorers!!

I have a Sport, I'm thinking of trading for a Scrambler. Most of the guys I ride with have utility type 4x4s, and tell me I should get the Explorer. What do you owners think of yours? About the speed and handleing? How does it compare to the Scrambler? Is it the same engine, or slightly differant? Thanks, I need imput.

I was torn between the Scrambler and the Xplorer. I went the Xplorer route mostly because we do a lot of mudding and long steep hills. With the extra fender size to help keep me somewhat clean and the low range to hold me back on the downgrades the Xplorer got my vote. I've never ridden a Scram so I can't say much about performance differences but I'm pretty happy with the way the X runs and it will only get better as I add mods. Good luck and let us know what you decide!

hoolio,
What was wrong with the speedo? Mine quit registering speed, but the hour meter and backlight kept on working. Give us all the details. Thanks in advance!!!

I have a 98' with an EPI clutch kit, V-Force Reed Valve, 26" mudrunners and a HPD steering dampener to offset the rougher ride of the tires. If you want speed and power for long rides, mud, hills, rocks and every other obstacle this is a great quad.
The scrambler is funner in sand, on hard packed and smoother surfaces. Less tippy, faster, sportier but not as easy to ride all day. No matter what anybody says it will not go everywhere a big utility will. No way.
You can not go wrong with the Xplorer. A good mix of sport and utility. Add a couple of mods and it hauls a$$ pretty nice!

XPLORS post just about says it all.The Xplorer is a very awesume 4x4 even in its stock form.A real advantage of the Xplorer is its ability to also perform work duties like hauling wood ect. There is no low range on a Scrambler, that just about kills any thoughts for putting it to work.
The Xplorer is a mix between sport and utility. When you are done trail riding with it,it will perform work duties for you with no problems.
I have 26'' GoodYear Mudrunners all the way around on my 400cc Xplorer, and I will soon be adding a clutch kit.====Bill
