Default Dalton clutch?

I am thinking of getting the dalton clutch for my scrammy. The price on there site seems high($239) for just a clutch kit. Plus $20 shipping!

Is this worth it? Is there that much difference between this and an HPD clutch($155), or aaen($79), or Hotseat($189).

I have about $250 left to put into my scrammy but was thinking of a rear rack and clutch, but Rick recomended the dalton, which would eat up the whole $250. I have a White bros. on the way.

Im kind of stuck as I like the way it is now(white primary+secondary set to 2-2) but it seems very slugish from upper mid to top end. From the reading(http://www.snowtechmagazine.com/arti.../cltchtun.html) I did on the pvt cluching it seems you could really lose effeiciency if its not set up right(front matching the rear).

Is there any info on what the 1-1, 1-2, 2-2 does as far as shifting and rpms?

Thanks for any info regarding these issues!!

Thats why I went with a complete clutch kit. I am not sure what all the Dalton kit comes with, but it beeter come with a lot more than the HPD to justify that price. You may just want to pick up a new secondary spring and helix, or convert to the Aaen roller secondary (cheaper than the TEAM) That could solve the sluggish upshifts

BBS, not to nit pick wording, but if it's sluggish from mid to top that means it's upshifting TOO quickly (that's assuming it's not a motor problem making it sluggish.) Didn't want anyone to misconstrue what you're saying.

Another point I'd like to make here - I've been reading many posts lately relating to the holes the secondary clutch spring is in and how that affects the clutching. To be precise in setting secondary preload, you really need to do it by using a spring scale and a cheap little tool available from your dealer that clips to the clutch to hook the scale on. As stated in my Ski-Doo race manual: "Remember, use the hole numbers for reference, MEASURE the tension for accuracy."

You cant really fine tune one of these clutches without a tach. From having the same macine and basicly the same setup with a tach.I found out that with the white spring it shiftedout too SOON so I talk with Rick and he sujested a Dalton black/white or a polris green. It did the trick but I have the TEAM roller which makes the shifts faster and smoother. Try you a green primary and get you a Aaen roller secondary and you should in the ball park.

Not sure why this confuses people. This is right from the Dalton website. Price is pretty clear as is what the kit includes. Some people might need to take a little time to read things through before posting.

US $239.00 CDN $349.00
Includes our billet flyweights, a new primary spring, a new secondary spring, and a custom billet helix. Improved belt grip, throttle response and bottom to mid acceleration without loss of top speed. Designed for stock tires (0-2000 ft. altitude)

I have the Dalton and Got it from Rick. Nice clutch and works great comes with all you need but it is pricey! The part in it that makes the price go up is the helix, and when you hold it up to the stock one you will see why it is better!!! I had the same issue when I first put the kit in but it was my fault. I did not get the secondary clutch pretension right and it had no mid range. Make sure you have a buddt to help you and get that pretension right.

95sport400, I did read it several times. I read the other cluch kits too and they all come with both springs, flyweights, and helix. but they are quite a bit cheaper. My question was is the extra cost worth it!

I searched the forums but there isn't much info on the dalton clutch.

Jim, I didn't mean to imply that you hadn't read it. I meant that others were posting responses to your question without THEM taking the time to read it to understand what infomation you already had.
