How Deep can a scrambler go???
#1
Hey Guys...
A friend of mine today asked me how deep my Scrambler 500 can go in water, mud, etc. today. Being that I am new to my machine, I was not quite sure. Well the best way for answers is this forum!! So, how deep can the scrambler go. I know the air intake for the engine is just about at seat level, but is their anything else I have to worry about??? Thanks..Neil

I have had my scrambler to the bottom of the seat and the water I was pushing was coming over the front fenders. I had no problems but this was not by choice and pretty scarry considering what could happen. I have rode through similar depths with no problems.
Ride with a friend on a 99 scrambler 500 who has drowned in less water. Your results may vary(disclaimer he he). A lot depends on speed, wheel speed, currents etc... It`s going to be trial and error but you will get a feel for what can and can not be forded. I have done no water proofing the quad is pretty water tight from the factory.
Good Luck

ok, talk to quad_man... hes got a Scrambler Submarine.. he's got pictures of exactly what to do and the results from the mods... He can go pretty deep for a 22" tired machine. I've rode with him.. the setup he has REALLY works.

I have to agree with Easteregg. I went through just about the same debth as him...not by choice every time.
Isn't it funny that every time I show up to a huge mudhole and I try a line that looks more shallow and a lot safer...it always ends up being a bottomless pit! Or the infamous huge mudhole near the woods and someone has a shortcut trail in the woods...is always a trap!
Am I the only one???
