Wait for the 05 bud. Too mutch speculation on the changes coming up. Hear thy will be in within the next two months. 500 is a great rig I ride with 4 guys who have them. My bud left his new 600 twin at my place. It's not any faster than my 400 Explorer or the 500H.O. from what i can see and it does'nt have a back up start like the 500. It's a proven rig I've seen em put through hell. Definately get one. Get the winch right off unless you like hernias.

these quads are quick and powerful. mine will stay with a 600 and a 700 until about 35 40 mph then i will get passed up. also these things have been around a while and have most of the problems worked out im problem free, and i know a lot of other people that are problem free also. like the other guy said wait for the 05 then buy the 04.5 and u will save some chash on a left over. the 600 and 700s dont have any sort of back up started so if your in the midle of no where your screwed. the 500 HO is my choice by far and i dont think u will be dissapointed at all

That's a goshdamn good idea.....wait a few months for the 05's to come out so the 04.5's will be a little cheaper. Unless, the 05's have some nice minor improvements and it'll be too tempting not to spend the extra $ for the newer model. I plan on buying one within a couple months, so hopefully everything works out for the best.....

I bought mine back in February and love it. Granted it is heaver than some, but on the trail along with the IRS, it is a smooth ride, while everyone else is bouncing around. Power is great, especially on take off it makes you feel like you can climb a tree with the thing. No belt problems. I initially worried about that as well. I had heard many rumors. That may have be the case of older models, I have not noticed any belt slippage or problems. My only and only complaint is the turning radius. Its not something that you can turn on a dime by any means especially compared to my wife's Honda Rancher but hey the pros far outway the cons. Get one and enjoy. Yes get a winch if your spending that much spend a little extra and then your won't have any regrets.
Oh it does have a digital fuel gauge although it's not very accurate. Would like to have a gas cap guage but due to the design and shape underneath of the tank it wouldn't be any more accurate.
