04.5 700 oil filter--which one???

04.5 700 oil filter--which one???
My 2004.5 700 sp, built 11/11/03, was delivered with a 2540086 oil filter. The service manual shows 2540006. When I bought my replacement filter, the dealer tried to sell me 2540006, until I showed him the 2540086 that came off of it, so he promptly said use what came off of it. Can anyone explain the difference?

The same thing happened to me. The new part number superseeds the original one. If you notice the filter is actually different on the design from the factory one. I was assured that this is what I needed.......
