Drag Race!!!!
#1
Hey, we went to Hatfield & McCoys this passed weekend. We stayed in Logan.....The drag strip was about 300 yards away from where we stayed. We went down and watched the test and tune Friday night. We got back from riding saturday, and I was spraying off the quad....and this guy walk up and said I have seen that quad before. He was from on here, which was cool. He races a scrambler 500, which was a 4x4 at one time.
Me and him raced acrossed the field. And I won both times....he told me that I should race tonight. So I did. I could never get that freaking tree down. I would red light...we had four pratice runs. Then the big race. I had to give them a time not to beat....and plus you had to beat the other guy. Well I raced a banshee that had a 1200 cc crouch rocket motor on it, which I did get a head start, and won.....but I beat my time. The only time I got the tree right on the money. 300 feet in 6 sec. is this good or bad? Everyone said that the track was in bad shape...but I don't know, never drag raced on a strip before. It was really wet.

Was it sand dirt or what? Each track is different my wife's sport 400 has the ritter trail mod and runs a 5.8 in 300ft sand, I have the hpd race mod and run a 5.4 in 300ft of sand. That doesn't sound like to bad of time if yours is still stock weight. You'll have the bug now and be making that thing as fast was possible. Which is what happened to me and I just put mine on methanol!

It was dirt....but more like mud. One guy told me that he was 1/2 to 1 sec. slower there. I guess he does this alot. That was the frist race of the season. I guess the strip was not ready yet. But it sure was fun. I could do that all the time. I could only find 92 octane there for some reason....and it was $2.12 a gallon. WOW they broke it off in me.

I've raced in sand drags and ran a best 5.8 with a Ritter/HPD trail mod. That's with the stock carb and pretty much stock clutching. If I had a wheelie bar I bet I could shave another tenth or more off that time.

Racing is a blast, mostly sand drags around here. Hopefully you will get to do more of it, good luck to ya. Oh and the tree it just takes practice, and breaking out is a bummer, been there done that!

Was the scrambler you raced did the guy have it shined like a new one LOL if so I know who that was.
The track at three mile curve is slower for some reason than the track we run at genoa. However most of us do stay loyal to rolling thunder as it is closer and offers somewhat of a more playful atmosphere.
I race there every weekend and the deal there is now they do not do the track maintenance but have formed a driver committee to do the maintenance. It was their first time so give them a little time to get the chemistry down and they will get the track up to speed. The lights there are on 400 speed so practice that and you will get it. Also practice a pro tree as the quick 8 when they start it runs on that as well.

Yea it was clean...very nice guy. We stayed by the paint ball park. I will say that the deck is a sweet place to be. That place was . We will be back next year.
