Oh my Gosh... I love my bike now!!!

To those of you that have been helping me with my 400 mods - THANK YOU!!! As you know, I was very disappointed in my bike after I had the trailporting and trail pipe done, after reading all of your comments and suggestions and doing a little research on my own, I got a clutch kit from RCR (Thanks Rick, I am very happy with it). I then rejetted from a 260 down to a 250, and changed the pilot jet from a 24 to a 30 (Thanks Duneaholic) MAN THIS THING ABSOLUTLY FLIES... It doesnt bring the wheels off the ground when I hit the gas because it is still running just a tad rich, which is ok with me. I would rather run a little rich than run too lean. I think I need to change the secondary clutch from a 2 to 2 to either a 1 to 2 or a 2 to 1, not sure how that goes. If you can give me some input to get just a little more low end to get the front wheels off the ground I would appreciate it. But actually, the point of this thread is that you guys have helped me a great deal. And I greatly appreciate that, I am very satisfied with what I have at this point. And I am glad I didn't give up, as you all encouraged me not to give up. Thanks again !!! jnds

good to hear. The 400's can be hopped up so easily but without spot-on jetting and clutching combinations they wont perform to their full potential. It took me a while to get everything dialed in the way my bike is now but soon I will be getting a race mod set-up and will have to start the whole process again.

Good job Jerry! I knew you could get it dialed in. It seems like the more you ride it the more amazed you will be with it. I still can make people say "wow I didn't know a Scrambler could do that". I'm happy you got everything going. What primary clutch spring did Rick send you?Do you think that you've got enought engagement on take off? Also what clip postition do you have the needle? I've got the HPD red/yellow and it works well for me. It's really all about body placement and timing on when you want bring the front wheels up. I know some race mod guys who would probably disagree with me on this "nuts on the tank and still going skyward". Oh well maybe someday.

Thats great, but, this may or may not make you happy, you have not reached it's potential. That thing should be flippin over. I have a scram 4x4 with trail mods but not ported, and it will. I don't think you have the thing dialed yet. I wish that I could tell you what or how. BUT, let me ask you this, You don't have the stock can on that thing still do you? I was looking at ur pics and saw that it was still there. What do you have for a filter? Are you running it with the rubber boot on the front of the air box? Get rid of it if you are. Use it when the temps get cold, like in the 40s. If yur making short runs or if it is hotter than hell out, you can get some more performance by removing the top cover. being Arizona, you more than likely need more air, and to me, it sounds like it is deprived. I just removed the starter, and race lightened the flywheel. It made a big difference in the bottom end. It feels like a 2 stroke should feel like...

They do get warm there, and also they have literally no humidity. It should about flip over immediately when you nail the throttle, esopecially being as new of a model as it is. The clutch alignment and condition should be great.

like redbull said, you really need to dial it in. its all i can do to keep mine on the ground. the polaris 400 motor is like a ole grand piano, the more you tune it in and tinker with it the better it will perform. guarnteed!!!

yeah,if that machine is flipping over backwards as soon as you hit the gas, then something isnt dialed in the way it should be.i can ride wheelies for 50yds or so on my scrambler, and the only mods i have is listed in my sig.

Yea everyone is right about it not dialed in yet jnds. You should have no trouble getting the front end light anytime you want. Mine comes up anytime I want as long as there is traction. And I still have more tuning in to do on mine.

Thanks for all of the replys, and yes... you're right, its not totally dialed in yet. But it is so much better now than it was before. Made some notes of some of the questions you all asked
1. I have a plain primary and a purple secondary
2. The needle is in the middle
3. The can, not sure what you are asking on that, but I think you are talking about the muffler. Still Stock.
4. The pictures I have dont show any of my mods yet.
What tips can you guys give me to get it dialed in better? Would like the low end to kick in much stronger than it does. If you have any more questions about what I have let me know.

You might want to try the HPD red/yellow primary spring. It has more stall and will get the RPM's up more before it takes off and gets you into the powerband a lot faster than the plain spring will. It really gets a good holeshot with the red/yellow and is what HPD puts in their aggresive clutch kit for the trail mod. Hope this helps out.
