starting 500 ho

Default starting 500 ho

When starting my 500 ho I have to hit the throttle while turning it over to get it to start,If it dont it will kinda start then idle real low then die,is this normal? or do you think that there is something not right?

what year is it, try cleaning your fuel hoses and fuel filters and up your idle. try running a small ammount of carbon deposite remover through your gas after this is done. does it run lean or rich then you might have to adjust your jetting

its a 04 with about 200 miles on it.The plug looks fine.As far as the filter I was going to change it can I use any fuel filter or do I have to go to the dealer to get it?

yes sir any fuel works fine, use the cheapest stuff right now cuz its a killer to fill these things up every week or so.

you have a Tach on yours dont ya, what does it idle at

it idles @ 1200-1250rps sometimes lower sometimes higher did ya mean any fuel filter ?

o sry i mis read that. if it was me just run to the dealer if its not to far and get one thats ment for the machine. i dont know why its starting bad if its an 04, hows the air filter, try running it without it once. other then those suggestions i really dont know what to say other then jetting

my 04 400 has always been like this. Once it is warm it will crank right over but if it is the least bit cold I have to feather the throttle a bit.

You can use any fuel filter for a 1/4" fuel line. It is nothing special. I picked up a small clear re-useable one from an auto parts store for $6 You idle sounds fine as well

I have an 04 that does the same exact thing. It started good until the weather started warming up. Now, I have to choke mine and most the time give it a little gas. I think this is normal from what others have told me.
