does anyone know what the predators front and rear plastics are made of?
like what kind of plastic is it?
Because the 2 mounts that connect to the gas tank studs on the front plastics are broke off and I want to find something that I can use to weld them back on, like j/b weld or some kind of good quality epoxy made for this application.
unless there is a better fix for this?
If so please reply with the fix and any pics available.
I called polaris today to ask them what kind of plastic it is and they responded by telling me they could not give out that information which in turn I told them that there nuts if they think I am going to buy new plastics for such a cheaply made peice of plastic.
All I want to know is what kind of plastic it is so I can use the correct bonding agent....................

 

man, i hate to sound too bad here but mine is just riding. I bought new plastic and never hooked it up. And since, i'm sure i would have torn them off AGAIN, but i looked in there, and its still possible to screw it back together like it should. I really don't see how we can just keep trying to fix this. It is obviously a weak point in mild to harsh fender pressure. I plan on keeping my pred for quite a while, and this fender deal looks like something to just live with. Ok, so not a single answer to your question, but good luck on your repair. Maybe an extra set of brackets somehow jb welded to like the lower side rear of these things would give better support?

 

maybe drill a hole directly through the plastic where the center of the stud on the tank would be and take the stud bolt out of the tank (reuse it later) set a peice of rubber hose behind the plastic and thread the stud bolt through it from the outside of the plastic and screw it back in to the tank hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Anyone else with ideas or fixes for this problem?

 

please has this happened to any other predator owners and if so could ya help a fellow rider out here theres got to be something we can do?

 

ya it happened to me...
i never fixed it... doesnt bother me at all...

Yeah, I broke one. It hasn't bothered me yet. If it does then I would think about setting up some sort of PVC and glue setup. My right fender vibrates a bit especially at low revs, but I don't get too upset. I'm the dope that rolled it. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

 

yeah I thought about using pvc cleaner and glue but Im not sure if it would be ok for this plastic? because polaris cant give out that info! I dont want to know what the secret formula is. All I want to know? Is it abs or pvc or poly-something what kind of plastic would it be classified under>? thanks for all the help so far...

 

You may try calling fullbore, or someone like that, and see if they know what kind of plastic it is.....figured they would kinda know, because they make replacment plastic....hope the repair goes well, I haven't had the problem.....the tank seems to work well for me.

 

I called fullbore and they told me theres was a little different in the making process
They were also very nice people to deal with when asking questions unlike some other/ I wont mention the name (polaris) oops
If I were to buy new plastics all the way around I would purchase fullbores for sure...............

 

C'mon now, if you worked hard on a product, would you be wanting to spread your "recipe" all over the internet? Probably not. Just tryin' to be fair here....so don't get mad. Like you suggested, if you want to just drill on through, I'm sure you can secure the retaining plates, then carefully paint over some screws, or rivets to help disguise them. Not sure what the max reach of a pop-rivet is, but maybe some could be had that would reach that far. Do some studyin', and hit the local hardware store. If all we have to worry about is retaining tabs for plastic...Polaris must've done a good job on the rest of the quad. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]
