I have not had the quad out since I got back from Hatfield & McCoys....well I got it out today between the rain showers,to clean it back up, and was looking at my filter.....DAG ON it is dirty. I known I have to use K&N oil, so do I just spray it down and then blow it out with the air hose?

 

Should I just throw it across the field and buy a new one? LOL[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

 

Do you have the recharge kit? It has a special cleaner in it. Otherwise, Modquad said that he uses the Simple Green to clean it. You know that it is clean when it is a grayish color. Also, remove any particles that you might see. I use a garden hose to spray it off. Then let it completely air dry (dont put heat on it). Once it is dry, spray the K&N oil on. Give it a good soaking. Then let that dry and you are good to go.

 

i dont have time to get filter cleaner so would like a dish soap and a few good washings work ok for now and then spray it with oil and let it dry, oh ya its a foam twin air if that changes anything

 

with all the talk about simply green lately I think I might buy stock in it!! lol

Formula 409 is basically the same as the K&N cleaner. Be careful when "blasting" these filters. They are construtced of cotton gauze. Sometimes with a blow-gun, you can very gently blow out from inside the filter. Be careful. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

 

Twin air has the step by step cleaning procedure on their website. Click on the "Tips" section. They recommend soaking the filter in "Soap and Water, Simple Green or Air Filter Cleaner"
